Supporting Remanufacturing — the backbone of the Circular Economy.

In May 2017 Council Director David Fitzsimons visited member company ARP, a Netherlands-based independent remanufacturer of toner cartridges. The resulting case study explores the relationship between independent remanufacturers, such as ARP, and the OEMs whose products they remanufacture, and considers the factors affecting the future growth of the sector. Four policy questions common to all independent third-party remanufacturers were developed in the paper.

Oakdene Hollins led the research partners in the European Remanufacturing Network (ERN) project. This project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement 645984. It was highly successful and the ERN network will continue to coordinate European researchers interested in this topic area.
